Baryte print. 19 x 26,5 cm. Unframed. Low right signed Ulrich Mack and blind stamp 'Mack', low left blind stamp 'Pellworm'. - German photographer. After working as a miner, M. studied at the HfBK under A. Mahlau from 1956-62. He photographed for magazines such as Quick and Ten. In 1964 he won first prize at the World Press Photo Award. From 1967 he worked for Stern, from 1973 freelance. From 1976-99 he was a professor in Dortmund, and was also a visiting professor in Boston. In a long-term project, he juxtaposed a series of photographs of the North Sea island of Pellworm taken in 1968 with shots of Harkers Island in the USA. M. received several awards, including the Federal Cross of Merit.
