Date: 18th century Description: Historical general view of the Palatine Hill with the ruins of the imperial palace complexes and the Circus Maximus, depicted from a bird's eye view. The accurate depiction of the topography, architectural fragments and landscape surroundings refers to the early archaeological reception of Rome in the 17th or early 18th century. Detailed figural staffage in the foreground complements the scenery. Presumably from a veduta of Roman ruins.
