This bank is made of cast iron and depicts the folk hero William Tell firing his crossbow at the apple on his son's head. The bank works by drawing back the level and placing a coin on the cross-bow. You then push the son's arm down to place the apple over his head before depressing Tell's right foot, firing the coin at the apple and into the hollow of the bank, made to look like a castle. Made by J. & E. Stevens Co., Cromwell, Connecticut, c. 1896. the bank takes its name from an old New York State rifle range on Long Island.
