dating: First half of the 18th Century provenance: London, Smoothbore brass barrels, with octagonal breeches and slightly bell-mouthed nozzles, signed “IOHN HARMAN LONDON”, provided with silvered foresights and featuring the marks of the London test bench and the mark “IH” surmounted by a lion’s head. 17.8 mm cal. at the nozzle. Iron tangs with broad rear sight and engraved with floral motifs and rocaille. Locks with brass lockplates and pans, iron cocks, batterie and external spring; slightly rounded lockplates, outlined and signed “IOHN HARMAN”. The mechanisms are only partially working and need attention. Wooden full stocks, both damaged, with repairs and restorations. Brass mounts; butt-plates with fine central raised mask; partially pierced counterplates. Brass-tipped, wooden ramrods. length 41 cm.
