SN. 2040. Cal. 16ga. One of the last crossbolt Lefever's built, this example with 26" Krupp fluid steel brls that have slightly raised matted flat top rib with white and brass front bead. Muzzle and breech ends of brls are engraved. There is a small gold bar at rib extension and tops of brls are both engraved "KRUPP FLUID STEEL". Breech ends of brls with carved and lightly engraved butterfly wings. Bottom of tubes with SN and steel type stamps. Walnut splinter forend is near full coverage checkered with triangular ebony tip, engraved roller type release, and iron. There is a colored inlaid crescent moon and star towards forend iron. Scalloped boxlock receiver is beautifully engraved with two Setters in oval game scene on left, two Pointers on right surrounded by well executed scroll which extends on to the brl fences, top tang, and top of frame. Bottom of frame is beautifully scroll engraved and there is an elongated oval with three quail in game scene surrounded by scroll. Trigger plate engraved "D.M. LEFEVER SONS & CO/PATENTED". Blued trigger guard with large relief Setter and fine scroll on bow, SN on tang. Gun made with gold plated SST, auto ejectors, non-auto roller style safety. Capped pistol grip walnut buttstock has checkered sidepanels, is checkered in point pattern through the wrist with leaf checkering aft of grip, has vacant gold plate in cap, vacant gold shield on toeline, and terminates with its original checkered HRBP.
