'times are changing' is the statement that is written in white cursive on a black ground. Handwritten comments or statements are an artistic form that Vautier developed early and runs to this day by his work. So this late giclée print from 2014 is a very characteristic work of the artist. The giclée-print is signed and numbered lower right in opaque white 'Ben 4/25'. The work is in very good condition. It measures 43 x 53.5 cm. Ben Vautier (geb. 1935) Ben Vautier was born in Naples. In 1949 his family settled in Nice. Vautier began, inspired by the artist Yves Klein, the Dada artist Marcel Duchamp and the Nouveaux Realists to develop his own style. Utterances painted in cursive writing on mostly black ground became a distinguishing feature of his art. From 1958 to 1973, the artist ran a record store which façade and interior he himself designed artistically. On the first floor showed Ben, as he calls himself, his first solo exhibition. From 1962 to 1970 Vautier was a member of the Fluxus movement and actively participated in festivals, public appearances and performances. In 1972 he participated in the documenta 5 in Kassel.
