He was appointed rabbi of the Howard Beach Jewish Center in Queens, where he had a dynamic influence on many - but also a polarizing one. After two years, his contract was not renewed, hence the present letter, likely written to Rabbi O. Asher Reichel. Kahane closes with: “Finally, and I consider this most important, and would appreciate your emphasizing it, I am at present devoting my full time to Talmudic studies.”
