The cover is carved in low relief with a scholar holding a ruyi scepter, surrounded by swirling cloud scrolls and auspicious vapors. Additional incised lines accent the flowing movement of the scene, suggesting a celestial or Daoist-inspired setting. The box is smoothly polished with rounded corners and tiered sides that transition from celadon-white at the base to deeper russet tones toward the cover, highlighting the natural color variations within the stone. The underside is neatly finished, and the piece rests on a fitted hardwood stand. The carving is gentle yet refined, reflecting traditional Scholars taste objects, often kept on a Scholars table for seals, small scrolls, or treasured personal items.
