Tang Dynasty, Ca. AD 618-907 A large Chinese terracotta prancing horse. The front right leg is held up in a prancing stance, and the head is facing downwards. The horse is painted with red and black pigments and lifelike facial and mane details. Size: 520mm x 540mm; Weight: 10kg. Provenance: East Anglian private collection; formerly acquired in the early 1990s in Hong Kong. This piece has been precisely dated using a thermoluminescence analysis carried out by Ralf Kotalla. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
