A CELADON JADE PENDANT OF A KNEELING HUMANOID FIGURE, LATE NEOLITHIC PERIOD, HONGSHAN CULTURE China, c. 4700-2500 BC. Boldly carved with hands resting above the bent knees, the oval head detailed with large eyes above the mouth, pierced through the arms and horizontally at the nape for suspension. The semi-translucent stone is of a rich celadon color with opaque beige patches and dark green inclusions and speckles. The surface is finely polished, with additional ancient wear, resulting in an unctuous, smoothly worn feel overall. Provenance: The Collection of Sam and Myrna Myers, Paris, France. Acquired between circa 1965-2012. An old label with collector’s number ‘4229 103’ accompanies the lot. Condition: Excellent condition, commensurate with age, with expected wear, natural age-related imperfections, typical traces of weathering, and signs of prolonged burial.
