Pair of Chinese Export Porcelain Blue and White 'La Dame au Parasol' Soup Plates, Qianlong, 1735-1745. Designed by the Dutch artist Cornelis Pronk (Amsterdam, 1691-1759) for the VOC (Dutch East India Company). Each painted with a view of a lady shaded under a parasol held by her attendant, feeding a flock of cranes near a pine tree and small stream, surrounded by a scroll border, the rim with cell diaper and trellis diaperwork panels edged with floral stems and leaves, within a cell-patterned band around the edge.
