Confraternity plaque in cast, pierced, gilded and enamelled bronze. Spanish work. 17th century. The central section is composed of two compartments that preserve inside, under glass, a coloured engraving of the Virgin and Child. Horizontal frame with double moulding. The reverse features, in pierced and enamelled work, secured to the frame by rivets, an openwork plaque bearing the monogram of Jesus. 6,5 x 6 cm. This is a devotional badge or plaque, associated with a confraternity or a religious order. Historically used as a symbol of belonging to a brotherhood or as an object of personal devotion. Several comparable examples are found in the collection of the Lázaro Galdiano Museum in Madrid. Decorative Arts.
