Mid 19th Century Conductor's Railroad lantern with the original whale oil fluid burner; brass and steel construction; this has a heavy clear glass lantern globe with [Union 1] inside a floral and leaf border, all etched into the glass; Has a caring handle and a small piece on the top that swings up so that the lamp can be hung from a hook on the ceiling of a railroad car or caboose; the burner is made of nickel plated brass and has a double fluid whale oil wick closure catch on lid // Measures: 10.5"H x 6" diameter on base, 17"H to top of handle; globe - 5"H x 4" diameter at widest // Condition: Works as it should; Metal lantern base has been bent (Could be easily straightened) and one tab connection needs resoldered.
