AN OTTOMAN REVERSE GLASS PAINTING (CAMALTI) Possibly Syria, late 19th century - early 20th century With brightly painting colours, the names of the four Caliphs (Abu Baker, Omar, Ali and Othman) on the four corner, and the central medallion inscribed with the name of Mohammad, surrounded by Anssab al-Arab (Arab descendants), top and bottom inscriptions from Surah Al-Ahzab read: ايها النبي ارسلناك شاهداً ومبشراً ونذيراً (O Prophet, indeed we have sent you as a witness and a bringer of good tidings and a warner) in orginial wood frames.
