A SILVER PIERCED SUGAR BOWL ATTRIBUTED TO JA'FER Iran, probably Isfahan, late 19th - early 20th century Resting on a disc foot and fitted with two handles, the body is pierced with nightingales among branches, with a blue glass liner inside. Unmarked, but based on known examples bearing the silversmith’s mark, his production can be divided into two principal decorative groups: one featuring figural scenes—either courtly ensembles with musicians or single standing figures—and another characterized by dense vegetal scrolls populated with nightingales (gol o bolbol). 9cm x 18cm For a related example on the subject: Chiswick Auctions, 3 March 2022, lot 172.
