작품 상세
A SAFAVID-STYLE RIDGED TERRACOTTA FLASK Iran, possibly 17th century Resting on a short round foot, drop-shaped body with a tubular neck and a flaring mouth, accented by ridged bands. Its elegant silhouette is reminiscent of Chinese garlic-head porcelain forms, which were highly fashionable during the Safavid period. Although ribbed bodies are a known feature in earlier works—such as 10th century Persian glass bottles and 12th century turquoise-glazed pottery and metalwork ewers—closely related examples in ceramics are difficult to identify. Nevertheless, Safavid metalwork vessels of comparable shape are documented. 31cm high For a similar example on the subject: Christie’s London, 10 October 2006, lot 27.
