Ca. 400 - 600 AD A stone figure depicting the Buddha standing frontally, his right hand raised in abhaya mudra. The figure is dressed in a heavy sanghati robe rendered with deeply carved, rhythmic folds, reflecting strong Hellenistic influence characteristic of Gandharan sculpture. The face is calm and idealised, with downcast eyes and stylised hair arranged in wavy locks gathered into a topknot, with attendant figures standing on lotus pedestals to either side, and smaller devotional figures carved in relief below. Size: 620mm x 360mm; Weight: 28.300 kg. Provenance: From the collection of a London gentleman; formerly acquired in the early 2000s in France; previously in 1970s European collection.
