The scrolling scene of the Nikkô Shrine within a forested mountain landscape is depicted through stunning painting skills, while the shrine is highlighted with dramatic gold gilding. A vast landscape is built from the expert use of enamel painting techniques. In it, different figures walk, pray, and converse on their visit to the shrine. Each element features resplendent accents of gold. The mouth rim is slightly recessed and bordered with an elegant brocade with gold in red cartouches, and also the sign of Hattori zô on theunderside. Condition The satsuma vase is in very good condition with slight signs of wear consistent with age. The painting is preserved in excellent condition.
