Sakai Hoitsu, 1761-1828; OSON GAFU, "The Drawing Book of Oson" (Nagoya, Edo: Eirakuya Toshiro, 1822) 10 7/8 x 7 1/2 in.; traditional Japanese fukurotoji binding, yellow covers with pattern printed in colorless glaze, applied title label printed in green characters; blue cloth chitsu folding case. Containing 25 double-page studies of flowers, scholars, animals, and landscape, printed in soft but bright colors, signed with a variety of artist's names and seals, inspired by the master, Korin. The first edition was dated 1817.
