AFTER HARA YOYUSAI (1772-1845/6) A Gold-Lacquered Wood Panel in the Form of an Ogi (Folding Fan) after a Design by Sakai Hoitsu (1761-1829) Meiji (1868-1912) or Taisho (1912-1926) era, early 20th century The polished wood ground decorated in contrasting shades of gold takamaki-e and silver hiramaki-e with two butterflies in flight and a kamakiri (praying mantis) crawling over a leafy trailing fruiting vine, inscribed in gold hiramaki-e Hoitsu ga with a red seal and Yoyusai with a kao; with a plain black-lacquered tomobako storage box. 19.5cm x 51.5cm (7 5/8in x 20¼in).
