작품 상세

ARNO BREKER (1900 - 1991) German sculptor, best known for his public works in Nazi Germany, which were endorsed by Nazis as the antithesis of so-called "degenerate art". More than 90% of his public work was destroyed by the Allies after the war. Rare war-date S.P. "With best wishes, Arno Breker", (in German), 11 1/2" x 16" b/w, detail of one of his bronzes, that of naked "Aryan" man with one arm raised, boldly signed at bottom. Fine condition. In April, 1944 German Minister of Armaments and Production Albert Speer issued a special edition of prints of Breker's works, of which only ten sets bore signed images. This plate is from one of those sets.
