The mother is watchfully paying attention to the two playful kittens lolling on the ground. The intensely blue eyes and the lively expression of the brown and white painted animals are particularly remarkable. This is a signed work by artist Benno Kögl (1892-1969), known for painting cats. The painting is in very good condition and the gorgeous frame also displays only minor traces of age and wear. The painting is signed lower right, "Kögl". The dimensions, framed, are 52 x 62 cm, while the dimensions of the panel are 40 x 49 cm. Benno Kögl (1892-1969) The German animal painter Benno Kögl was born 1892 in Greding. He was a student of Hans von Hayek (1869-1940) and Philipp Röth (1841-1921). From 1919, he lived and worked in Munich, where he, following Julius Adam (1852-1913), became well-known as a painter of cats ("Katzen-Kögl" [Cat-Kögl]). He preferred impressionistic techniques and a bright palette.
