Estimate by Auctionata Expert: 900 EUR This oil painting on wood was created by the painter and graphic artist from Munich Benno Kögl around 1950 in Germany. Depicted is a pasture under a slightly cloudy sky. On the left side a farmhouse between trees is shown. On the right side a cart harnessed by oxen as well as people at the hay harvest are pictured. The painting has been signed on the lower left with ‘Kögl’. On the ledge of the frame it has been illegibly inscribed. The work is in a good condition. The picture carrier is slightly arched. The golden frame shows signs of wear. The dimensions of the image are 42 x 51.5 cm and the framed dimensions are 56.5 x 65.5 cm. (kwi) Benno Kögl (1892-1973) The German painter of landscapes and animals Benno Kögl was born in 1892 in Greding. He was a student of Hans von Hayek (1869-1940) and Philipp Röth (1841-1921). From 1919 he lived and worked in Munich where he became well-known as a painter of cats (he was often referred to as ‘Katzen-Kögl’, German for ‘Cat-Kögl’) following Julius Adam (1852-1913).
