Harold Harvey (1874-1941) - Oil painting - "The Village Farrier" - River landscape with a farrier and working horse to foreground and figure and cottage to background, canvas 16ins x 12ins, signed in full in black and dated '06, in gilt moulded and fluted frame Provenance : Purchased by the Great Aunt of the present owner, circa 1910. It is known in the family that the figure by the cottage was thought to be their Grandfather. The location is thought to be the River Coombe which rises above Newlyn and flows through a wooded area down to the sea between the fishing port of Newlyn and Penzance. It bears similarities to Stanhope Forbes oil painting - "Across the Stream" painted in 1897 which also shows this location. Note : Exhibited at Penlee House Gallery & Museum, Penzance, Exhibition "Sons & Daughters of the Soil", 28th March to 13th June 2015
