Artist: FRANCISCO TAMAGNO (1851-1933) Size: 38 1/2 x 53 5/8 in./98 x 136.1 cm Lithographie Parisienne, Paris The trademark of Tamagno's Terrot advertising was the amount of attitude that flowed off of the paper, usually in the form of a woman taking supreme pleasure in outpacing her competition ? be it other riders, automobiles, or airplanes. Here, a picture in blue, she has managed to leave in her wake a steaming locomotive, the engine driver shaking his arms in frustration. Terrot bikes were successful enough during the 1890s, but the firm really came into its own with motorcycles as of 1901, remaining in business until the 1960s with one of the best makes in France.
