Possibly commissioned by Carlos II of Spain or his mother, these late works date from 1692-1702 during which time Giordano spent at the Court of Charles II. Acquired by George III, they are recorded in the Bedchamber at Buckingham Palace (1792), but they are also mentioned in the archives of his father's collection.</br>Print size inches: 8.9 x 7.3 together with lithographic print of drawing by Raphael entitled The Three Graces, originally drawn c.1517-1518</br>First recorded in The Royal Collection inventory of c.1810.Red chalk. Recorded in the collection of George III. A study of three poses from a single model for the Three Graces in the fresco 'The Wedding of Cupid and Psyche'. One of two fictive 'tapestries' frescoed by Raphael's assistants on the vault of the garden loggia of Agostino Chigi's Villa in Rome, know as the Villa Farnesina. The Graces are seen here pouring a libation over the married couple. Although Raphael played no part in the execution of the frescoes, he had a close hand in the design. The draughtsmanship of this study leaves little doubt that it is the work of the artist himself.</br>Print size inches: 9.2 x 7.4
