C-print (chromogenic print); laminated on Alu-Dibond Los Angeles, USA, 2008-2011 David LaChapelle (geb. 1963) - US-American photographer Typographic gallery label on the frame's backside Copy 3 of a limited edition of 3 Image size: 152 x 114 cm Provenance: Patricia Low Contemporary, Gstaad, Switzerland Very good condition David LaChapelle is well-known for his hyper realistic aesthetic that decisively shaped contemporary photography; the auction record for one of his photographs currently sets at around €100,000 In his flower still lifes David LaChapelle deliberately referred to Baroque still life painting. His works include traditional symbolic objects such as fruit, flowers and skulls as symbols of Vanitas. But closer inspection interestingly reveals further insertions of everyday items such as cell phones, cigarette butts, balloons and Barbies. The present print is titled 'Concerning The Soul' and a beautiful example of the artist's approach. The photograph achieves a painterly, almost sculptural quality and thereby invites us to reflect about us and life in general, as much as Old Master paintings did before. The C-print is laminated on Alu-Dibond. The work is in very good overall condition. The sheet-sized image measures 152 x 114 cm. The framed overall dimensions are 161.6 x 123.6 cm; the frame is fitted with a typographic gallery label by 'Patricia Low Contemporary, Gstaad, Switzerland' on verso. David LaChapelle (born 1963) The American photographer was born in Fairfield in the State of Connecticut.
