JOHN SINGER SARGENT (1856-1925) American painter most remembered for his murals and, as an official World War I artist, his gripping paintings of men in battle. A.L.S. 2pp. 8vo., Chelsea, "26th", n.d., to an illegible recipient: "...My best wishes to you and...for the new year - It will be a pleasure to see you - can you come to ? Road on Monday afternoon? I will be there from 3 to 5...". Boldly penned and very good.
