AARON WILLARD (ROXBURY, MASSACHUSETTS, 1757-1844) MAHOGANY TALL-CASE CLOCK, brass eight-day movement, bell chime; hood having arched pediment surmounted by likely original fretwork elements centering a rectangular column with brass ball finial, and flanked by matching rectangular columns with brass ball finials, tombstone-arched glass door with mother-of-pearl lock escutcheon, flanked by fluted columns with brass stop-fluting and brass capitals, side panels with tombstone-arch glass windows and quarter columns to back corners, all above a rectangular case with tombstone-arch panel door having applied molding and lock escutcheon of mother-of-pearl and possibly ebony, flanked by fluted quarter columns with brass stop-fluting and brass capitals, all raised on a plinth base with applied outswept feet; painted iron dial signed and dated "Aaron Willard / 1793", with Roman numerals, seconds dial, arched opening revealing calendar dial, gilt-painted decoration to spandrels, and painted moon dial. Pendulum and weights present.
