[Amsterdam and surroundings]. Nooms, R. (called Zeeman) (±1623-1667). "Nieuwe en Eygentlycke Afbeeldinghe der Stadts-Poorten van Amsterdam in 't licht gebracht door R.N. Zeeman." (Town gates of Amsterdam). Complete set of 8 etchings, each ±17,6x30,3 cm., w. engr. captions and address below image, all in fine CONTEMPORARY HANDCOLOURING, partly (lettering) heightened w. gold, a.e.g., bound in later green hvellum, obl. folio. - Some sl. foxing in broad blank margins (lvs. sized ±29x36 cm.); some vague occas. wrinkles/ creases; 2 lvs. w. sm. repaired tear in lower blank margin. Modern endpapers w. rubbed spot from former bookplate on upper pastedown. = Hollstein 21-28, 2nd state of 3; B.119-126. A rare complete set, printed on paper with foolscap watermark, seldomly found in contemporary handcolouring. SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE CLXIII. BOUND WITH: Idem. "Het Pest-huis buiten Amsterdam." (Quarantaine hospital for the plague-stricken, outside Amsterdam). Etching and drypoint, 20x33,9 cm., w. engr. title and "R. Zeeman Inventer & Fecit" in caption below, in the same handcolouring as the above. - AND BOUND WITH: Idem. "De twee Blockhuisen op den Amstel buiten Amsterdam." (Two blockhouses on the Amstel, Amsterdam). Etching, 20x33,3 cm., w. engr. title, "Gemaakt An°.1651. Afgebrooken A°.1654." and "Getekent en gegraveert door R. Zeeman" in caption below, in the same handcolouring as the above. - Condition similar to the above. = Hollstein 87, 2nd state (of 2) and 86, 2nd state (of 3).
