ARMSTRONG NEIL: (1930- ) American Astronaut, Commander of Apollo XI (1969). The first man to walk on the moon. A signed hardback edition of The Retrospect for 1947, being the Yearbook of Blume High School, Wapakoneta, Ohio, Volume XXXX. Armstrong's senior portrait is featured on page 12 along with his various High School activities and the summary 'He thinks, he acts, 'tis done'. Signed by Armstrong in blue fountain pen ink with his name alone to a light area of the page. Armstrong is pictured a further six times in the Yearbook alongside the Student Council etc. The book also contains other signatures of students and some ink annotations by a previous owner, most regarding the deaths of former students. An exceptionally early example of Armstrong's signature in block letters although, interestingly, displaying certain characteristics that have remained with his signature. Rare in this form.
